Rolanda Haloo-Zuni Jeweler

Rolanda Haloo has come a long way into establishing herself as a top Zuni Artist. She learned how to make jewelry at the age of 11 by watching her older siblings, as well as her father, Jacob Haloo. Among her brothers and sisters, along with their life partners are; Albert and Dolly Banteah, Nancy and Ruddell Laconsello, Jake Livingston, and Lolita and Fred Natachu. All whom have proven themselves as uniquely extending themselves far beyond the likes of traditional jewelry makers.

Once partnered with Harlan Coonsis, Rolanda Haloo had to learn the metalsmithing techniques that she had distanced herself from while partnered with Harlan Coonsis. Through the struggle of having to make it on her own after her marriage to Harlan ended, she now creates amazing and beautiful inlaid jewelry.

Through her life's achievement, Rolanda Haloo is known most for her Dragonfly Maiden. The Dragonfly Maiden is a combination of a Zuni Maiden, and the Dragonfly, which has been highly regarded in the Zuni faith. In the years to come, the demand for the Dragonfly Maiden remains, and with each year, the context value of the Dragonfly Maiden will continue on as a defining symbol of defeating life's struggles. Although she is well known though for the dragonfly maiden, Rolanda continues to stretch her imagination and create other amazing and beautiful things.
